I just bought my first myself a Mercedes C class sports coupe and was wondering about replacing the head unit for a sat nav one.
I have seen a few on Ebay but am not sure which one I would need.
I am fairly competant with wiring so am not worried about that side of things but is it going to be difficult to remove trim ect required ?
Also on my steering wheel I have a phone button but don't have bluetooth or anything installed is this a difficult upgrade to do ?

Thanks, Gavin

Its actually a fairly easy mod, with generally only the head unit to switch and a small antenna to fit behind the speedo. Your cars age will dictate the correct Comand to buy, pre or post facelift. The car will require some coding doing on it to activate the nav menus to allow the speedo display to indicate. Lots of info on this site and mercupgrades

It's very easy to do on both pre and post facelift models, and if you need any help I can help you through Email.

If it's a pre facelift you will need a wiring loom which is available from http://www.comandonline.co.uk if you mention this forum you might get a discount, and remember if you buy a comand from them it come's with a warranty and Alfie who owns it is a member here too.

Post face lift does not require the wiring loom.

Comand might require coding depending on what the car it came out of had installed. I.E. If the car it came out of had a CD changer or phone and yours doesnt than It will need coding after installing before it will work it and to be honest you should get it coded anyway, as the coding will allow comand display on your speedo area like directions and so on.

Regards,

Alex.

To get the phone buttons to work you have 2 options. You can add merc prewire but the cost would be heavy.Speak to Alfie (mercupgrades) and he'll advise what you need. Alternatively, some after market phone kits can integrate with the wheel buttons.
