Unfortunately my 129 is playing up again. If I accelerate hard and use kick-down, my engine is very lumpy and down on power immediately afterwards. This 'resets' if I turn off the ingition and re-start. Even though it's lumpy, it still goes up and down the gears ok. Is this Limp Mode that it's going into?

The car runs very well on light acceleration, the problem only occurs immediately after kickdown. Any thoughts?

99% sure that this is the MAF,, just unplug it and try the car.
£147 from a Bosch service center or £250 from MB

Im nowhere near as educated on these things as Mr.Television but i just had this on my ML and it was the plugs. I changed all 16 and its fine now.

Just another option to think about.

Sorry Television, not meaning to step on toes.

Every piece of info and thoughts are what makes a forum good, they stimulate other ways of thinking and are an important input, your point is valid any way, and that is a good thing

Thanks chaps. Plugs are only 5k old so think I will try unplugging the MAF (Malcolm, is this easy to do? I'm not sure where it is) and then move onto plugs....

Around the air filter box, you will see a plug that appears to be plugged into a pipe leading from air box to engine, just unplug it.

I had a similar problem with a W210, tried all sorts and it came down to water in the fuel. Changed the fuel filter and got the tank drained and good as gold.
