Not that cheap I think but I may be wrong as it is hard to say without seeing it

I would get another price first,it always pays,,plenty of good body shops around

If you had a cast iron guarantee that the rust wont return then the price is dear but acceptable... problem is the rust could be back with a vengance in a few months time.
Depends if he is gonna replace front wings, and weld new metal into rear arches.
Personally i would go for the spurious or pattern wings, cheaper and almost as good as the real thing.. £600 should sort the problem in these hard times...

But just to add ..rust work is always much worse and more labour intensive than can be seen on the car in its present state.....

If the rust has only started to bubble under the paint on the inner lip on arches then surely it should be easy enough to remove and preventive measures can be taked to stop it from coming back!!

I have the same problem with mine, my front wings are only showing very minor signs of bubbles under paint. Rear has more obvious show on the arch inner lips but still under the paint and still nothing showing on the outside, cant it be removed and painted over with protective layers?

i used POR15 on my wheelarches and painted over it. i never thought to take any 'before' pics, but Malcolm has seen the 'after' results which were, in my view, more than acceptable, although the paintwork itself still needs some polishing/rubbing etc to get the blending satisfactory!

its american but there are 2 uk suppliers. i got the starter kit from www.frost.co.uk and followed the instructions enclosed then painted over it and, unlike kurust and the likes stocked in halfords, the rust doesnt return a month later! mine has been done 2 or 3 months now, (it was done ready for the warrington meet) and so far shows no sign of returning. POR15 even seals pinholes in the metal! and yes thats its name. look it up on the frost website under rustproofing.

POR15 is just rust preventing paint, does it really work that well? Did you remove the existing paint first and then painted over with this stuff? I only have rust on the inner side of my arches which cannot be seen from outside as yet, you think i can give this a go myself?

yes i just sanded/ground off the worst of the rust, used the 3 stages in the starter kit as per the instructions and overpainted. although a couple of tiny areas would have benefitted from a minute skim of filler, i needed the car back on the road so i painted over it to match the car and the rust is gone! as i said, i wish i had pics of it before, but it looks pretty good now!

when you read up about it, you use 2 coats on a car. they use it on metal boats, but apply 3 coats instead!

Sounds pretty impressive at under £20 a pop, I might take this up as a project but I am not a very tidy person (always mess up when painting room etc) and my car is Blue so it will show any imperfections.

I think I need to find someone tidy hand and get him to use this stuff LOL

putting the paint on isnt so much of an issue. it just needs to be properly smoothed etc for the overpainting. as i said, mine has a few blemishes, but nothing major. i see every blemish, but compared to some of the dings on this car and the rust that was present before it, im happy to live with them! when i get it running properly and clean(ish) i will take a couple of pics so you can see the finished article!
