Hi all - especially early A class owners!

I have a mate who's looking at an A class this afternoon - and wants reasons not to! I suspect it's a bit more than he was looking to spend

I know little about it, other than it's a petrol on a 'T' plate. I've said the obvious thigns about a solid history with ideally MB history in it's first three years. It's on 60 thou.

Other than that, any known faults?

Many thanks in advance

These early a classes now are not very nice generally, many faults such as steering coloums, rear trailing arms, front and rear suspension spring are all common faults. try to get a later one would be my advise or not bother atal.

Sorry to any early a class owners that that might upset!!!!!

Hello,

We have had ours for 18 months and its not missed a beat, wife gets over 40mpg (from a 2.1), it has loads of room (more behind me if driving I'm 6ft 2 than my m class or dads e class)

Ours is a newer 'old' shape though so cannot really comment if early ones were bad?

Lets be honest if you ask on a forum of cars at a similar age and price other cars would have their share of issues..

for us ours is a great little car.

thanks for the replies guys.

I think he's holding out for a bigger engined example (this was an A140 it now transpires...) but your pointers will help.

Cheers

Alex,

ours is a A210 and its the lwb model so even bigger, these are rare but quite cheap now and great little car for the money. Even though it has a 2.1 litre engine its not quick quick...but you can have fun it it.

They also do a A190 although again rare, most will be A140's or A160's

Cheers
