SLK 230K R170 1999
Hi to All
This is my first post although I've visited the forum many times for information and advice from previous posts/threads and so I'd initially like to thank those posters and linkers who've helped me out over the past 6 months.

I bought a fairly old (1999) SLK 230K earlier this year as transport cover in case I couldn't ride my motorbike through Europe as planned. Anyway I healed better than expected so the bike got used but over the past few months I've been sorting various bits out on the SLK including wheels, tyres, most of the dash panels, roof rams and pump, Catalytic converter, belts plus other bits and bobs - not sure how we ever coped before the visual 'haynes' manual that is you tube.

I also have an ulterior motive for now joining the forum and that's to post a specific query regarding the central locking system, which is this:
Has anyone had an incidence of the CL system packing up but seemingly not because of the pump nor the pneumatic tubes? I've blown down and sucked back on the tubes and both doors and the fuel filler hatch work so I'm surmising they're OK. I've also visually checked the tube to the rear centre console and that's in place. I've tried replacing the CL pump with an alternative working one from my friendly local breaker with the same result - I get one click when pressing unlock and one click when pressing lock. It does not click again if multiple presses are used on the same button. The button on the dash moves both door buttons slightly but not to the point where they'll open. My pump is dry and having stripped it down I can find no evidence of 'shorts' or other electrical issues - I've yet to test the pump separately on a 12v system but will this weekend. There is one anomaly on the pump but without any experience, this may be normal. - the feed to both the doors is free, you can blow down either outlet and it'll vent back through the pump, the outlet to the fuel filler hatch is blocked, is this normal? Lastly, the little black round thing mounted on the printed circuit with a small white plastic adjustable ram coming from it - I'm presuming some form of vacuum switch - where should it be set in terms of the centre contact and two action points?

Any help would be gratefully received.

Regards
