C180K SE coupe year 2003 Petrol/manual W203 series
Now nearly a year trying to solve warning messages, light sensor,SRS,coolant visit workshop, alternator visit workshop etc
All above tested or replaced but still get warning messages
3 weeks ago lights on panel started flickering -noticed by driver when returned car to me at airport at midnight after holiday
I haven't noticed it before or since but little night use
Anyway advised on forum ages ago front SAM may be my warning messages culprit so I got a correct secondhand replacement from Dronsfields
When independent dealer put it on today instrument lights came on very brightly/ flickering so it was taken off and mine put back on with lights again coming on/flickering but not half as bright
So now advised to get a replacement alternator ( tested last year then OK) which I will
The questions are
1 Could the alternator have been the problem all along of the warning messages
2. Is the Dronsfield sam unit faulty as well

What to do next ?
! Fit alternator and see ?
2. If warning lights come on with new alternator try dronsfields sam ?

I am totally at an end with this, love my car but on way home today even thought of selling it which is not me !
My Independent in Brighouse is struggling !

Advice very much welcome

It is a matter of starting in the right order and power supply first always.

There should be 12½ volts over the battery before starting and once started the running voltage should be about 14 volts.

Was any programming to the new SAM carried out

Surely if not charging then just the reg pack required on the alternator

If the SAM came off a like for like car then maybe no programming
