Hi there I have a Mercedes c class 220 diesal on a 16 plate 3yrs 6 mths old my engine managent light as come on took To Mercedes dealership and have been quoted £600 to sort it out work required mass air filter, soot connect fault, and a scr and gearbox update does. This sound normal for a car only just over 3 yrs old 45k on clock.

Might be an idea to find a local to you respected indie for a second opinion! Roughly where are you - so someone can recommend a place close to you.

Probably be a lesson learnt as told them to just do it as they charged £144 to diagnostic check it, def next time will take to a Mercedes approved specialist workshop which I have found to 2 not too far away. Sheffield Yorkshire area.

Yes I think that is definitely the best way forward, put it down to Experience.
I trusted main dealers for quite a long period of time , I wanted the best service for my vehicle and I thought that was what I was getting.
But having started using Indys , I now appreciate there is not much they Can’t do to a very good standard.
My vehicle is approaching 10 years old and I now simply can not warrant their over the tops prices.
It’s the most Expensive cup of coffee you will ever have , using main agents.
