I have done many scans on this car with an Icarsoft i980, but I have bought a Icarsoft Multisystem MB V3.0. Did a quick scan looked at the faults and unplugged the scanner. I then noticed that the command system had DIAGNOSIS on the screen. I went to start the car this morning and when I got in the dash lit up red saying reduced braking, switch on the ignition. Turned on the ignition and the clock started runing backwards and a click, but the car will not start. Checked voltage and it was 9.5 volts. Ran another scan and this time it came up with multiple faults on doors, battery modual, brakes, etc, etc, but on trying to read the fault, it says communicating, but does not go to the fault. The battery is now at 7 volts and now the car will not even lock, unlock. Nothing is working. Any ideas?? I will of course recharge the battery and try again, but it seems something else.

If your Comand didn't shut down correctly it will have flattened the battery.

It sounds like your Comand unit went into diagnosis mode then never exited. Why is anyone's guess.
If it's still in diagnosis try disconnecting the battery or pulling the Comand fuses (there will likely be several).

Thankyou. That was one of my thoughts. The battery is on charge, so see what happens tomorrow. Now need to find the fuses.

Might be new battery time iCarsoft use the car battery for power which won’t have helped, how old is the battery?
Around 4yrs, but on the first scan it was putting out 12+volts

I’d disconnect the battery (which resets the ecu) give it a full charge and then check the voltage if it’s 12.6V reconnect and go from there

Thats an very impressive life for a battery. Time for it to retire now though.

That's a very old battery..... Week 29 2004!
Must be original. It still put out 12v+ before the fault scan as I did a live scan of it with the icarsoft. Never gone flat even when left for two weeks when we have been away abroad. Probably last another 10 years lol. I do have a fuly charged Excide Excell in the garage. I will try that before I put on the fully charged one.

Just put the other battery on and the command screen is now blank and it turns on. On starting the car a message came up o the dash saying that the Restraint System is faulty, visit worshop. Caused by??? I am not going to scan it today, but will tomorrow. Also you cannot change anything on the dash and it just shows the temperature.

Drive it forward and turn the steering lock to lock - it should then clear.

When battery voltage drops too far there are a few things that lose their marbles and need resetting.
Steering angle sensor - as above.
Windows - manually lower all the way then lift to closed and hold the switch up for 5 seconds then release.
Sunroof if fitted similar.

Amazed it lasted that long, the new ones last about 4 years!
The one in my 210 lasted 20 years!
It was only because I noticed it was becoming sluggish that I changed it (damn - should have swapped that battery out before selling the car:( )
