Has anyone had any experience using aftermarket air suspension components, there is a huge variety of prices, ranging from very cheap to ridiculously expensive, so I just wandered if anyone had any stories to tell of certain makes etc before I purchase some new dampers and air bags.

I had Arnott air bags fitted to my R Class. Each side supplied & fitted by an Indie was cheaper than MB charged to supply only.

I’m aware of these but they are still expensive, I’m not desperate but I think I may have a front one leaking

I think the Aerosus ones for the rear of mine were around £250 a pair

Previous owner fitted aerosus to the rear of my S212 about a year before I bought it, still going fine now. That said Mercedes do a remanufactured unit now for a very similar price, might actually be a better way to go as the aftermarket units do make the car feel a little different.

All this is interesting to know if my airmatic system goes wonky? But if MB have a recondition units for attractive price then that could be better option maybe?

I think they do a front one but not the rears, there is a few options out there, I have a sinking front corner and a thumps back end which I thinks is worn shocks, for the front I’m going do some leak tests as it could easily be leaking back through the valve unit itself which can only be diagnosed by eliminating any external leaks

Ah MB don’t like to tell you they actually do remanufactured ones, you really have to pry it out of them, as said though aerosus and arnott are both good aftermarket suppliers

We have fitted all sorts. They all seem fine, but only time will tell with the cheaper ones. MB Reman are usually still more expensive than the most expensive aftermarket

you can simply go on the mb reman site.
The remanufactured parts have same warranty as brand new.
Yes dealers don't tell you.
