Hello,

I fitted an aftermarket kit on my bus, wasn't keen on drilling the back but it was actually very easy.

Cost £30 all in and works a treat even with just the two. I was quite proud having fitted this...

Your Mercedes
2002 SL500, 216 CL500, all fully loaded
You will have the indents in the bumpers for fitting them, they are very easy to spray, with just a light base coat and top coat, must not be thick

A210AMG did a nice job of it

Hello

Mine were from flea bay (Hong Kong special) but came pre spayed and the match is as close as I would have got anyway.

I know mine are not really in the correct spot but I priced the pull off flaps from Mercedes before I drilled (£17 plus vat and come sprayed) so thought well if I mess up its cheaper than a new bumper.

Also the two work fine pick up obsticals from the side, so not sure why 4 or even 6 needed.

Most awkard bit apart from passing the wire to front was taking car apart, and releasing the bumper slightly to work the wire through the car.

Works a treat and look original with the dash pod..

You could put the pod above the rear seats in the head trim as I think thats where it would be on an estate? I considered a few placed before putting it where I did.

I connected mine directly to the n/s reversing lamp connection, other members have fitted relays to control the supply. I found that I was able to fit without a relay, no lamp failure warnings shown, and they have been fine since fitting. Some bumper trims have markings on the rear, mine didn't, hence the measuring as described in the linked thread above.

Thats what I wasn't looking forward to hence fitting them where I did. My only advice there would be my dads advice when sawing.

Measure twice, cut once.....

The drill bit that comes in the kit is very easy to drill though, I made a little template of the diameter of the sensor and used that to position then used a fine pen to puch though this marking the spot where I would drill.

Have to say its a very handy gadget, even more so when you have been use to them on other cars.
