Was planning on ordering some aftermarket roof bars for bike carriers to fit my W203 saloon.

Being the non-estate model I don’t have roof rails. These would clamp into the top of the door frame below the roof but would obviously interrupt the door seal a little bit, I am just concerned that, as the stock Mercedes seals are quite flush to the body that this method may cause damage or splits in the seals.

As they would be only temporary installation for weekends and holidays I don’t foresee them causing an issue however it would be good to get your views on this method guys and gals. I got similar bars for my old 90s Ford Escort many years ago and they did the job with ease. I am not such a fan of the rear cycle carriers and I have had issues with them in the past and I quite like the top-mounted cycle carriers. I had been weary of them until I tried them out and found them amazingly stable, nowhere near as noisy as I imagined.
