You might find that going direct to Mercedes with your VIN isn't too expensive. Your near guaranteed getting the right part first time.

does anyone know where can I find a manual to identify different parts? It would be faster to search for different parts.

I would prefer a custom fit HU, no need for the unsightly facia adapter.
This looks like it's right for the pre facelift as I 'think' yours is if memory serves. But check the measurements and shape.

It is octo core, a definite advantage, 4 g ram is good, 32gig onboard memory. I use an additional 32gig SD and direct dashcam footage to it.
Traditionally Erisin stuff came with IOG loaded but I don't see it listed, I'm now using Tom Tom Go for the live traffic.

I'm sure there will be more suitable units available, and maybe it might have a 9" screen rather than this 8"??

I'd prefer the same as well. But it depends on the price (for a 1500£ car I won't spend 500£ on a sat nav). I'm willing to go max on 200£ if it's plug & play (in terms of fitting, frame, etc), but I have to take my current cd unit and measure it 1st.
At the moment I'm gathering info regarding both options, and tomorrow I'm going to take out the CD unit and measure it, and see how it goes from there.

Thanks mate. But I don't see the BT connection for that one? Assuming it has BT already, it's plug & play I guess?

They pretty well do it all.
Don't be fooled by the misleading descriptions of DAB and DTV, these are usually add on units and when if you read more you learn that they are DAB and DTV ready / compatable.

If you get a unit for £200 I'd be interested to learn what it doesn't have, a fast processor, good ram and latest Android (for what that may matter) is probably not there. You may also find it runs older BT, again for that that matters.

Do some reading of previous thread as we have discussed most pros and cons of these units.

If you don't want a lot go cheap, if £260 'aint cheap already.

260£ it's alright. I need it basically for navigation, BT calls, music and reverse camera. Everything else it's a plus but not a must. Not interested in DAB or DTV (I have them both on my jag, never used them :) ).

Same for the TPMS: a plug-in USB receiver will be required, and the kit with one included will cost less from elsewhere.

As Martin said, don't be tempted by bottom shelf generic double-DIN: WinCE; slow processor; horrible DVD drive that generate more heat, than a portable oven, every single bit is extra - like Quad-lock Mercedes plug, or a CANbus decoder, and it won't work properly even with these added.

Model-specific Android unit, like the one above linked by M80, is the best budget option there is.

The measurements to be concerned with are the front face, to be sure it is the same size as the space it will take.
203 pre facelift and post facelift are a different size and shape and aren't interchangeable.
They are both double DIN and these units will slot in well enough. You needn't be concerned with the dimensions of the metal box, it will fit.
As the wiring bundle can be significantly larger being sure of reliable connections, sometimes taping up the plugs / sockets can be worthwhile to reduce chance of them pulling out when fitting. Then manipulating the mass behind the HU can be tricky. I tend to use cavity space to the n/s, but below and o/s could be possible.
Then of course leave plugs out that aren't required. I have been known to cut off the unnecessary plugs.

A recent trend with these to make them into a single DIN that still occupies the double DIN space, there is then ample room for wiring. The Chinese being what they are don't always describe their kit as is.

The HU microphones were traditionally poor, maybe they have improved. But for me siting an external mic higher up was worth while, again they are Chinese for a couple of quids.

thank you both! Definitely I'll go ahead with an android unit (sick of the winCE one), and don't really care about TPMS or any other bits. However, as M80 said, quality microphone it's a must. For any satnav unit, can a quality microphone be attached?
I'll take the cd player out tomorrow and measure it properly, then I'll dig in for more options (everyone's asking about the measurements).
At the moment the big problem with the car is AC not working at all. Saturday morning is booked on halfords to check what's going on with it (gas refill doesn't work, already tried - they said that it's not pumping at all, so they couldn't refill it - another local garage).
How's halfords btw? are they good? in terms of servicing.

Interesting point about the microphone - I had a telephone pre-wire, so there were three mics (two left now?), which, I hope, still working, just like the speakers, via existing connector ... I only had one call o_O since fitting the new HU last August, and it was fine, I think (no complaints from the other party) ... Not a hugely popular feature, that hands free thingy, in this household :)

The unit linked will take an external mic, not all did but most seem to now, albeit with different plug on the unit tieing you to one of theirs. This is standard plug.

I've issues with my AC also, mine took a regas. Even though the machine had tested for leaks it did leak. I don't intend to use Halfords, or Kwik Pricks. I hope to find a specialist who, unlike me, won't be guessing at the cause.

I'm not a big fan either, but I need someone to take a look about the issue and identify it. Then I'll know what needs to be done. Hopefully they won't say that I have to replace half of the car, or throw out the windows in order to get fresh air :))
