How can you stop the radio? If I'm using USB for music I can see that radio is still searching ..
So if I go online, I have to go to igo settings for maps update?

Can't help with either, I'm afraid - Android is really not my thing, so all I know is go to apps and kill a process.
Not risking any updates for the time being - everything works, and I still prefer my [standalone] Garmin for satnav ...

Understanding that IGO isn't best friendly toward its users I have never attempted to update their maps on Android, when I use to use their Windows version trying any such thing just seemed like too much faff.

I'm surprised the radio is still showing as active as on any on mine when a different media is selected the radio can't be seen. I would try a reset in case Android has got confused.
I would check your antenna set up as tuning is easy enough with a good signal, could it be your 12v amplified adapter is upsetting things? maybe try to power it.

So are we now saying that the cig lighter switched supply isn't needed if the canbus is connected?

GLK I seem to remember that you managed to get your steering wheel controls to allow for additional commands by long presses?
This effectively doubles our number of switches but on mine I can't see that as an option.

no, definitely cig lighter power supply is needed, and radio 12v is connected as well.
It shouldn't be that hard to update it, I'll dig in a bit more, as I want to have latest maps all the time (I haven't checked which version are on there yet though).
About the long press for additional commands, there's an option in the HU for steering wheel controls. Maybe that's the one?

I played with it for a little while, but it was nearly a year ago ... I just followed the brief guide in the item listing, if I'm not mistaken - it shows the menu with normal (short) press and secondary (long) press settings?

Might re-visit this in a couple of weeks, as I'm planning a few other small electrical jobs - power bank and interior/parking cams, OBD extension, HUD, etc. Will make sure I take a few pics.

The steering wheel control 'app' within my menu doesn't show the possibility of choosing function for each button, I assumed this was because it has MB set programming.
I thought of this while attempting to set up Larisa's yesterday. In her 'app' you can select, and long press is there although seemingly not too reliable.
Also in hers there are 2 buttons of 6 that are ignored by the HU, the 'app' won't allow for the change to the high 'impedance' option. Measuring the 2 buttons they are at 1.2k ohm and 3k ohm so I'm intending to put in parallel resistors of 500 and 550 ohm.

On ours it would be good to have the long press option as then I / we could swap between Nav, Radio and Music apps w/o the need to pass through the home screen.

Another little toy Larisa and self were dabbling with is the Android Google voice commands.
Our mobiles will both make calls, send a text and read out an incoming text all from a "Hey Google" wake up, cool.
So it follows that that would be good while driving, it being totally hands free.

The problem is that with the phone connected via BT when the mobile responds with "call Larisa is that correct?" it doesn't play through BT so can't be heard. Further experimentation required, but maybe to a dead end.

This 'could' also be useful for enet searches and the follow on call. For instance on Friday with the car tethered to the phone I searched a local a tyre depot, google found it and then it's easy to command it to call said depot. They were too busy to answer but the principle can be useful, and all this from "Hey Google" would be sweet.

my misses needs to accomodate with navi itself, so you're too far away with the google assistant. And, as mentioned, on my Jag there's no such thing (still the old crap sat nav unit, which I don't use anyway - but it can't be replaced unfortunately).

I want to get an Apple CarPlay adapter, to get me back into familiar territory :)

Will check the steering wheel controls options - I might have opted for standard pre-set only, like what you have on yours - I can't remember.

here's another question for you guys: before I'll look after another reverse cam, I want to give it a try to the one that came with the HU. So, where/how can I mount it? Should I use like double sided tape and put it somewhere next to plate lights?
This is the one: https://imgs.inkfrog.com/pix/easyrising/ES7446B-E17-INPUT.jpg

I wouldn't trust tape myself.
With that one is there any place you can mount it inside, high and central. If it's looking through the top of the wiper sweep it's easy to clear for vision.
If it reflects too much at night you can then think of the alternative, but it might work well.

if not, probably I have to buy another one (I think GLK has a good one if I'm right?).

He he, yes - I do still have it: it's a top of the range, large aperture, all glass lens, with Sony CCD, hi-res 1280x720 with 1000TV lines, and no built-in [static] parking guide, as the head unit provides a dynamic parking guide, based on CANbus feed, just like OEM.

It's in 169/245 number plate light mount, but easily removable and can be fitted in most other plate light covers, or in a different mount - I have an identical one fitted into the tailgate open button on my car - pretty sure I posted a pic at the beginning of this thread.
