aftermarket window tinting

Has anyone dealt with Pentagon window tinting? I need to get the back windows on the S done, but reading on other forums the law regarding aftermaket tinting is open to a bit of interpretation. Some members have had to remove once legal tints after being pulled by plod. MB don't do OEM tints so I have to go to Pentagon but want a quality job, without being ripped off and falling outside the law.

The chap at MB Brooklands told me they don't do an aftermarket kit like the one you get if you tick the box when new

I know the police in the south devon area are checking cars for excess tints but i'm sure this only applies to the front windows and windscreen and not the back windows. It also does not apply to the back window if you have door/side mirrors fitted.

As far as I understand it you will only get pulled by the plod for it or fail an MOT if you have tinted your drivers side front or passenger side front windows as the law changed that a certain amount of light must be able to pass through.

If you tint out your rear side windows and rear screen you shouldn't encounter any problems.

I think the OEM tints are not films but dark glass. So you could simply purchase the glass as replacements and get them swapped out.

Yes, I know, horrendously expensive but will always looks better than film. Especially when the low sun catches them.

I would be wary of putting film on a double glassed window. The heat could build up between the panes and cause problems?
