hi guys ! i am glad to be part of the forum. i want to buy a used mercedes. i am frustrated. i want a family car for 4. i am down to B180diesel.(lot of miles and trips-if coronaV allow us) i have found b180 d 2018 used and b180d 2019 with the new MBUX and facelift. but the price goes up another 6000euros(5200 pounds). whats your advice on this? does it worth to invest more money on the newest model or go with a 2018 model with very low milage and have the 2nd generation look.
thanks for your time and help, keep it up :)

Hello and welcome

With the way the world has changed I’d ask why do you need a diesel?
Modern ones with ad-blue and DPF’s do not like short journeys or not being used for awhile. I’d be looking for a petrol in almost all cases now.

I'd be looking for a petrol C class for your family of 4 within your budget. They really are nicer than the B class.

Good morning, as an owner of a B180d, they are nice cars but... for a family of two adults and two small kids with a case or two it would be fine. The rear seats move forwards for more luggage or back for bigger people, less luggage.
If you have four adult sized people I would look for a bigger car, C or a nice E for comfort and space.
I have never driven ours with four people and luggage but imagine that it would be fairly underpowered.

How many miles do you cover per year?
Where do you drive (town centre, country, motorway)?
Short journeys (4 miles or less)?
As I said at the start the world has changed

Have a search around the forum for DOF, NOX Sensor and Ad Blue, there’s many a thread with ££££ fixes that would more than counteract the fuel savings.
Greece might have different emissions rules although doubtful with being in Europe.
Lots of issues with software updates as well that then bring on other problem.

i believe b180d 2018 is the last of 2nd generation. i think whatever problems had at the last models are solved, most of the time. or am i wrong?

It’s modern diesels that are having the problems not the old ones. The problems are pretty much all caused by the emissions equipment bolted on to meet the environmental requirements.
Anything diesel that meets Euro 6 can have seriously issues. Without a Mercedes warranty I wouldn’t entertain a new diesel (I had 1 for 18 months from new it was amazing for that time)
