Hi All

Just had a call from my local MB dealer to gently remind me that my service is due and "would I be booking it in with them?" "that depends on the cost" I said "£299 for a B service" she replied "plus any extras" she added. I haven't phoned around yet as I haven't had the time and only answered the call as I thought it was from a potential new employer as the number was withheld!

is this a fair price anyone?

Also whats the best thing to do with aircon. mine is functioning perfectly well but I feel it could be a little colder, should I get them to service it? If so what does that entail and what is a reasonable cost?

Thanks

My invoice show £240 for the B service.
That is only the labour for the inspection, all parts used are then added, and the labour to fit those parts. Even supplying my own oil, mine still came to £460.

Excellent I will do just that.

And thanks to all. Excellent and speedy advice as usual. I am very pleased I found this site.

Waht do they regard as "extras"?.... Oil and filters should be standard...

Extras are things like fuel filter change, brake fluid replacement, atf replacement (although I have had this done already and should be on their system) steering bolt tightening...etc

What do they do in a B service that is not done in an A service?

Very funny and quite possibly true! :)

the dealers charge you for basically, *inspection
*oil and filter
* pollen filter

extras usually include, air filter, spark plugs, wiper blades, fuel filter,

we as an indie quote a b service on a c180 at £230 which includes

oil and filter
air filter
fuel filter
pollen filter
spark plugs
wiper blade/s if estate
full inspection, wheels off, all electric operations checked
doors , hinges lubed
diagnostic check on star machine

and in june july and august we are offering a free aircon regas with every major service,

if you are near cheshire/warrington give us a call, cheers shane
if not just a rough guide to what you should be paying
