Air Con Problem Or Not?

Please can anyone help?
I have owned a 2001 230CLK since last June, a 25000mile example purchased from a main dealership in Bristol.
The car has run without fault until today.
My problem was that on starting the engine this morning the interior air con fan came on and stayed on for approx. 8 miles.
I could not stop it even in the off position of its rotary switch.
The thumb wheels for left and right were in their normal positions as in the handbook and the rotary switch for air direction was at 2 o'clock and all vents open.
The outside air temp was reading -2c.
After approx 8 miles the fan shutdown and ran normally.
I have looked in the handbook and am none the wiser!
Any of you experienced this, is it normal etc

Sometimes funny things happen, if it does it again then something is wrong, I would not think about it to much at this stage.

Sounds like my old friend the regulator again. It could be a short in the switch but I suspect you fiddled with it so probably not. As Malcolm rightly says though, if its fine now, leave well alone until it gets more frequent.

Heater Fan Fault

Just Taken My Clk With Its "spurious" Heater Fan Fault Into The Main Dealers.
Although Not Faulty At The Moment They Say Its The Regulator And Have Ordered The Part.
Luckily Its Covered By My Guarantee!
