Hi All

Its been sometime since my last posting so I felt I need to ask a question.... a valid one for me plz..

I need a new air filter which will cost £20 from MB - not bad. Can someone please give me some insight to what this large airfilter does and when replacing with a new one will my fuel consumpetion better!?

Many thanks

Hi Len,
its the main air intake air filter prior to the turbo. In theory, if the old one was restricting airflow, you will be running less efficiently and running richer than you need. Power will be down and you'll be using more fuel for the same effort.
However, if the current one is tired but still ok, you may see no difference whatsoever.

Some people have reported 10+% increases in mpg for this simple task but I suspect if I did it, given that it has fmbsh and they'd not miss a chance to replace something if they coiuld justify it, I'd see no change at all.
