Curious really...

On our favourite Chinese marketplace there is a listing for a spring rebuild kit for cars with air springs.

I don't need anything now, but i'm curious if anybody has every rebuilt a spring using this kit. It's seems logical that they would work, if a seal can be made on the top and bottom using the supplied rings.

Anybody?

I am generally dubious about the quality of Chinese products, however in this case most rubber is out of China and at that price it is worth a shot surely.

Same here.. but I would be willing to give most things a shot.

Heck, I posted on another Facebook group a while ago asking if anybody had taken the plunge on anything more serious.. I was genuinely shocked that many enthusiasts had used things like valves / bearings / piston / piston rings etc in builds and turned out fine. I'm not sure I would venture that far down the rabbit hole though.

Crimping would be a problem.

Yea, I wondered about that too.

I searched you photo as I missed the link you posted, £6 cheaper than your link! :D

A lot of stuff we get in from Summit Racing in the States and other suppliers is made in China etc, not everything is poor quality. Daft thing is most of the stuff has done more miles before fitting than they will do before being worn out.

Not something i would think you could crimp with a hand operated tool. It would need something like an electro hydraulic operated crimper?

Yea it's true.

I always remind people that Apple phones and laptops are all made in China.. so the Chinese are well capable (under strict supervision etc..) I also argue that some stuff is just so simple, it's nearly easier to make it properly than to mess it up lol..

Yea I wonder.. its not immediately clear on the listing how this is done.

I must have a look.

I'd be tempted to try them out on the Range Rover as preventative if I could figure out the crimping.
