Re: Aerosus
(2 year warranty)
I purchased an air suspension compressor unit for my Range Rover from Aerosus. After 5 months it failed. I returned the unit when it failed. The replacement part arrived, when unboxed by the engineer it was missing a vital part. After numerous Email exchanges, Aerosus don’t supply the part separately !
i.e. Aerosus don’t replace the complete unit. Thereby reneging on the 2 year warranty. This leaves me with a car unusable and an incomplete unit thereby having to pay for a part that I’ve paid for once before.
Avoid at all costs.

the compressor on a TD5 Discovery is almost same principle, electric motor turning a crank to which a piston is fitted to produce air pressure. When the one on my old Discovery was very slow to pump, i took it off and stripped it down and found that the piston ring is made of a hard plastic and wears out. I found a company on e bay that sold the said ring, reassembled and it was like new, was still working well when i sold it three years later.

The reason I mentioned to all at Mercedes was for several reasons;
Firstly so that others wouldn’t suffer the same problem.
Secondly, the company Aerosus did send the missing part after my letter to their CEO !
Thirdly, the part they sent was in fact second-hand and the engineer had to make some minor adjustments.
Lastly, I’d previously owned a 1967 Mercedes Pagoda and was deliberating about changing the Range Rover for another Mercedes. I’ve decided to buy an E class convertible, unless I change my mind again to the saloon. I also next year intend to buy a late 1970’s Mercedes sports car.
Thanks for listening, it’s been a very expensive 2 years with the Range Rover. Despite being a beautiful car, the parts have a limited life span that is less than I’d like.

Yes you can see why Toyota are doing so well in the 4x4 world, if you want it rugged, easy to maintain and reliable. Pity really as I like to see British products do well JLR under Ford seemed to loose the plot and introduce too much tech into the 4x4 drive systems

Interesting that you’ve had such a problem with aerosus, my rear SLS was replaced about 3 years ago with their parts and I’ve not had a single issue with them,

One of my R Class rear shockers leaked within 12 months but they swapped it no problem. :)
