Aircon problem 230 slk

HI all
New to this forum and am after some advice.
My wifes Slk's aircon is not working, had the gas checked and it is ok.
I'v checked the fuses in the aircon box by the battery and they are ok.
There's no diagnostic faults showing.
If you press the ec button to turn of aircon nothing seams to happen.
It seams to me that the aircon compressor clutch is not engaging.
I Just really want to check for anything obvious before i get it looked at by an expert.
Next Question. Any recomendations who to gett to look at it in Cambeley Surrey area.
There's a indepenant MB specialist in Aldershot Mercury Prestige Vehicles anyone have any dealings with them.
