Last year I had the aircon condensor replaced on my 350 ML after it lost the coolent only 10 days after recharging. Cost over £500.

Just under a year and the aircon is now blowing warm again so likely to need another recharge.

Surely it should not be an annual event the recharge but I have read 1 to 2 years for a recharge.

Do you use it all year or just when it gets warm?

If only when it’s hot, then the seals dry out when it’s not being used and the gas leaks out…

Best to use it all year

I agree it shouldn't be an annual regas.. However l also agree with Blobcat above and I've learnt through bitter experience that it's better to keep it on permanently. I think there's possibly a minor leak somewhere.

WHS ^ above.

My W220 I have recharged once since 2004 and will get it refilled next month with the service.

My W251 I filled once (last month) since 2011.

Each year, then something is wrong. That said if the system is filled and the system kept on (as should be always) It will get warm within a weak if a leak. A leak can be identified during refill as they need to evacuate then fill. So depending on the side of the circuit a leak will show when evacuating.

Hi Blobcat

I use it even in winter to keep it working and make a point of seeing it gets regular use for exactly the reasons you have raised.

I am now arrranging for it to go back to the electical engineers who fitted the condensor.

In my experience even for a re-gas it's worthwhile going to a guy who properly understands aircon and how to pressure/leak test before re-filling rather than just understanding how to work the machine.... the good guys seem to be in a minority.
