Hi everyone- I've been absent from the forum awhile...
I got another W140- an 1998 S280. I'd like to top up the A/C. In hot weather it only cools when on max lo all the time. Where is the low pressure port? Is it the one that sticks out front behind the grill? What kind of connector is required to hook it up to one of those "standard" gauge/recharger kits available?
(I've used one of those kits on a Chrysler before).

Thanks all,

Greg.

Hi,

From my experience of replacing a damaged AC pipe and rechargeing the system I think the port behind the grill is the high pressure port and the one you are looking for is closer to the compressor itself.

I just use the standard refill kit halford sell, it comes with the filling pipe and a gauge to check the pressure, its £40 and comes with a free AC cleaner spray kit.

Very easy and its the same refrigerant (same standard at least) used by Merc as i checked when I picked up my new pipe.

Thanks Siroccotune. I couldn't find that low pressure port when I looked again just now. Have you any picturers or detailed descriptions?

Greg.
