airmatic problems

hi my s500l 2001 w220 has airmatic cat to low showing on screen in red,what does this mean and is it ok for me to drive 15miles to an independent mb garage?please help:-(

sounds like the pump has given up, easy fix, new relay has to be fitted as well, got a gen pump still in the box if you need one!! common fault im sorry to say!

If the car is sitting very low don't drive it. I damaged my front wing once.

as colechelle said pump and relay. There is a good chance that the bracket that holds the pump is rusty so may need to be replaced. Its around £30 from merc if they have it in stock. Do check that the new pump you put on is the "new sort" I think there was some sort of upgrade or mod on them.

there,s a modified / upgraded pipe that attaches to the compressor.

i think the new replacements may already have it.

open the box and check

Sorry for what may be bad news

Picked up my S500 last year and had the compressor changed under warranty that cost £1100 to the insurance Co.
Hope you can obtain one (and relay) a lot cheaper.
