No, it isn't.
My W220 S500 would drop about 2-4mm overnight. But it wouldn't increase by that much every night if left longer. I think the most it ever dropped was about 9mm after standing for a few days.

Tell your mate to use a garage that knows a bit about airmatic. The garages response that it "goes to sleep" is incorrect.

depending on atmospheric pressure and temperature changes it can go up and down a bit when parked, I can see around an inch of change if there's a significant change in the weather. On a cold night it'll drop all round 1/2 and inch, other times it'll stay exactly where it was for a week and other times it goes up a bit (but not much)

Thanks. I looked at his car this morning and both sides had dropped about 4 to 5 inches. Overnight. Looks like hes bought another lemon.

Weeks later the garage has fitted a new valve block. Its staying up for now.

More than likely then one or two of the Solenoid Valves were not opening/shutting properly due to dirt/water ingress. Quite a common problem after many years of use. Also the Air Outlets on the Valve Assembly get blocked with Corrosion. (The holes are very small) This is again caused by usually moisture getting in over time. These can be cleaned. But if 1 or more of the Solenoids have stopped working the Assembly has to be replaced as it is Non-Serviceable. The Solenoids are encased within the assembly.

It's a shame that they didn't service the Pump whilst it was out because the Piston Ring and Bore get worn.
