Forgive the long description..

I have two alarm fobs and a Merc factory alarm, both LED's on the fobs work and testing at work both transmit at about 418MHz.

However one fob works the other doesn't, plus they tune to slightly different frequencies using the trimmer.

A few times I have been unable to dis-arm the alarm so I'm wondering if the frequency alignment of the alarm module is out ?

Question is where is the damn thing to look at ?? I'm sure somthing can be tweeked in the module if only I could find it. (I found the alarm horn under the washer bottle)

So any help please ?

Thanks

Ody

When you say "factory" alarm..... are you sure?
My '93 230TE has stickers in the windows saying "Mercedes Factory Approved Alarm system fitted", but when I needed new transmitters, it turned out to be a Scorpion system fitted by the UK main dealer.
Seems to have been the "approved" manufacturer for MBUK.
Anyway,
They sent me a new transmitter (£41) and a new case for the old one which was busted (£6). With the new parts which came next day, was an explanation as to "tuning" the transmitters to the unit. I quote....
" The remote is tuned to the alarm unit by operating the remote control while slowly turning the variable capacitor until the alarm operates"
If it's a Scorpion system there should be a large red horn under the bonnet, with a rubber boot on it which takes a tubular key (which you should have as an over-ride)
If it is, then it might be best to call them 0161-7779666 they are at Northbank Ind Est, Irlam, Manchester, M44 5AH or on the web

Just to update everyone..

I tried to get a new fob but was told that as it had the 3pin socket on the fob I would have to sent the fob and the alarm of to be re-programed together with a new fob - this was going to cost some £120.

So I decided to get the Microsan alarm A212 + central locking unit cost me £116, comes with two fobs and does exactly what the old alarm did ie central locking and windows (- just make sure you allow the 3 second pulse and remember the CL is negative system ie the door switches ground the vacuum pump to operate it...)..ultrasonics, two fobs. And it was pretty easy to fit too!
