OK, I ask because on the estate the rear wiper fluid feed pipe comes adrift after freezing and water is squirted over the lift sensor alarm causing it to go off intermittently.

I would say that the alarm siren is at fault, unplug it and try the car about £80 from MB it may be worth you getting a fault code read out first

excuse my total lack of knowledge, but where is the siren located?!
