I don't generally use the SL in the week, just weekends.

I went to use it tonight and I had a message on the dash saying "convenience functions temporarily unavailable". I understand from searching the forum that this is due to a low aux battery as the car isn't used for periods of 4 or 5 days and that this is quite common?

However I am also getting a problem that when I lock the car with the remote button on the key, the hazards flash continuously. I think this is the alarm but the sounder has never worked. I have to unlock it and lock it a few times to get the lights to stop flashing.

Is this associated with the low battery, or is it an unrelated issue.

Thanks,

Simon

Have just seen Andys320's post. Do I assume I need a new siren as well? What should I do if it gets to the stage where I can't stop the lights flashing?

Thanks

Thanks Malc. Is this expensive to have a new one fitted?

Had exactly same problem with my SLK last week and it was the siren cost £85 and all is well now. Takes about 30 mins to fit so Indie wont cost much.

I've got a couple of other little electrical gremlins (clock so dim you can't read it and bezel around headlight switch doesn't illuminate) so I'll book it into the local Indy and get it all done at once.

That will be all known problems sorted then (whispered quietly in case car hears and decides to rebel).

Yes, dimmer is turned up full. It's literally so dim that you can't see the digits in daylight. At night, it's a faint glow but just legible.

Thanks Malcolm. If its just the siren, I might have a go myself and if I get stuck with my dodgy fingers, I'll have to give my son a shout!

Are there any instructions you can send me, or is so obvious, I can't go wrong (famous last words)?

This morning I had lots of brake, nav and convenience warnings and the car would only just start. I guess I need to use it more often! Is this both batteries or just the aux that affects all this? Can I safely put either or both on a trickle charge on the car or do I need to remove batteries to do this? If I remove them will this affect codes etc?

Sorry about all the questions but don't want to mess anything up!

Simon
