Guys,

There is a Scorpion alarm on my 320CE, fitted by a prevoius owner.

The "disable" key is missing, which means if the remote battery goes, I'm screwed.

I know the last owner hasn't got a key..........is there a way of getting one?

The receptionist bimbo at Scorpion said that they only sell the complete lock and key, which means ripping the dashbard out to get to it. I don't know if this is Scorpion policy or she just wanted rid of me so she could go home early.

Not surprisingly, I'd like to do it another way.

Can you trace old owners through DVLC?

Would a locksmith be able to create one from the lock?

Is the lock in the back of the glovebox?

If so, it is real easy to change it, just get a new lock and key, in fact you if you have a look at how many wires it uses, you could get a generic switch and key from somewhere like Maplin.

The glovebox is real easy to take out without ripping apart the dashboard, and as long as you are handy with a multimeter and soldering iron, this is a diy job.

Cheers,

Richard

Richard,

Thanks for the advice but the disable lock is under thge dash on the drivers side (I don't think I should have said that !)

Removing it looks like a bastard job, so the real solution is to get the right key...........

Koolvin,

Thanks for the pictures.

No, the alarm key is completely mechanical, not like the one you show.

It's the same lock as the one used on Durex machines in Pubs (not that I would know about such things), tubular, about 5mm diameter, with cut-outs to actuate the tumblers.
