All A class windows sticking when closing

My first visit,

Hello Forum,

All four of my electric windows will go down like normal, but they won't go up without a fight. To put them up I have to keep pressing the button and they move millimeter by millimeter with each press until fully closed. Annoying is not the word. I would guess a motor problem if it was one only, but it's all four!

Which part might I need to replace and where will I find it?

i think you need to sync the windows...have you recently disconnected battery? so dont press the button all the way down, only half way down until they reach the top and then hold the button down for 10 secs, do this for down too and then do for all windows..

I have recently disconnected the battery, the day before yesterday in fact.
Went out to try your reset suggestion and found them to be working fine!! Have reset them anyway.

It's a strange car this A class. Its a 1999 T reg by the way.

Is this the same for an E-class? I've recently bought one and the electric windows worked fine on the test drive but have this 'sticky' problem now. A new battery was fitted before I picked it up.

Yes its the same as above!!! 210s 211s 203s 202s 220s 163s and so on.
