Hi guys,

Just wondering, it's bothering me a bit but I have these weird "bubble" ? or flaking kind of thing happening on my wheels, it's pretty much on all of them, maybe 3 at minimum and it almost looks like fire damage.....having now gone up real close to it but maybe that's just dirt/rust build up. Is there anything one can do to fix this this or is it just a replace the wheels job?

This is corrosion probably caused by water getting in under the lacquer/paint. Probably be able to get them repaired and powder coated for around £300.

Replace the centre caps at the same time (only about £10 for all 4 on ebay). Don't forget to take the plastic protection film off ;)

As above. Edge around bolt holes is a weak point in the paint as it tends to be thinner and is easily damaged when removing or replacing the wheel bolts.

When you get them refurbed, watch out for the powder coat reducing the ID of the big centre hole, had my 968 cab wheels done years ago, wheels back on and correctly torqued, next time I wanted wheels off took a club hammer and 4x2 to get them off!!

looks like they have been cleaned with aggressive cleaner - wonder wheels type acid eats through the lacquer, water gets in and they are done slowly then again as its mainly around the bolts - tyre places ramming thier air guns in and not using a breaker with a long enough bolt/extension. smashes the lacquer right off.
A good alloy place can refurb them. Account for not being able to use the car unless you have a spare (car or wheels).
They will blast them, paint them and bake them usually done in a couple of days.

Took my S for 4 wheels powder coated spring 2022, took 4 new tyres as well, looked very nice.
What i will add is the refurbisher wanted to view the wheels to see if the corrosion had gone to far
and would effect the quality of the refurbishment.

Thats to see the extent of pitting / ie cant be hidden by just blasting and spraying.
A different place would remove imperfections after blasting
