I am in two minds whether to put an AMG kit on my black W209 CLK...yes it would look nice although it looks very nice as it is sitting on 18" AMG wheels, Avantgarde suspension, Xenon's

However, I will be looking to px it in about a year and was wondering whether having the AMG kit on the car would add any sort of value?

Put it this way,,you would like the car with the kit on it, the car would be more desirable to sell, maybe worth a touch more, but car with the nice things sell before the ones without

Is it worth paying for an AMG bodykit to look at it for only a year?

In my opinion, in the current economic climate, the only thing that will add value to your car is a bag of money in the glove box...

Sorry for my cynical reply, but I work in the motor trade!

So if I put a bag of pennies in my glove-box it'll double the value of mine in this current economic climate?

Not sure how to take this....

Are you suggesting your car is currently of very low value, or perhaps you have the large glove-box option.....?

We both have the large glove box option, and they keep it cool too, cool times ahead. OK if you are not selling

dont do it, it will cost you a few quid and when trading in they just look in the book and pick out the price regardless if you put things on it.

with a private sale it may however make yours more desireable, whether you get back more, dont think so.

If you are handy with the spanners you could always get your AMG kit, swap it back to std to sell amd flog the kit on ebay. You might recoup some of the cash that way.

I would definitely be px'ing for something better so I doubt i would bother trying to sell privately as I feel it's a lot of hard work and timewasters

I think this is prob the best advice...thanks

I'm not too great with the spanners on a bumper such as the CLK's with the sensors and washers etc. plus a lot of hassle to get the kit off and sold again

As you can prob tell I am pretty lazy and enjoy any free-time I can muster

Where were you going to get the AMG Kit anyway? Is It genuine one from MB or aftermarket replica?

You may change your views after trying a few garages and you find out how little a car is worth to them these days.

I think you may end up keeping it for longer than you think.

you'll not get a penny back when p/xing, but you'll be loosing a huge amount by P/Xing and not selling yourself anyway. i dont think its much hassle to sell youself if you are wise to the timewasters. OK it takes more effort than a p/x but i got 5.5k more when i sold my 7 series over what dealer offered me. probably worse in this current climate!

i personally wouldnt do it just for a year on a car i am already thinking about P/Xing. Get it if you want but you wont get your money back.
