An Annoying Flat Spot!!

I have a '96 S280 which has done 66k ( W140 series) runs great most of the time ,but after a run down a motorway or by-pass and come to a stop,then go to accel. it 'spits' back through the air-box a few times .I have changed plugs ,the coils, air mass, would the oxygen sensor cause this ? It's annoying !!!
