Android Auto Retrofit W213-2017

Hello to All,

New member to the forum and a first time MB owner. I've tries searching for this information but have had no luck and was wondering if the good people from this forum could help.

I would like to retrofit Android Auto to my car and if possible as wireless and also allowing Mirrorlink. I have entered my vin details on Vin Data and come up with the following details for the Audio set up

522 AUDIO 20 RADIO NAVIGATION CAPABLE NTG5
537 DIGITAL RADIO STANDARD DAB (DIGI. AUDIO BROADC.)

Can anyone let/help me know if I can have this added to my system or not and if so can anyone recommend someone for the purchase and fitting.

I take it you have looked at the compatability list on thier website where a 2017 is not listed,

Yes, do what I did, they confirmed they could fit Android Auto to my SLC300 after checking the Vin, so I booked it in and booked a hotel for two nights to give them a whole day to do it. Travelled 400 miles there and 400 miles back.
On arrival, they did not know I was coming, agreed to do it anyway, then at the end of the day told me it couldn't be done!
On the plus side, they said they would not charge me! What's the opposite of every ones a winner?

On the W213 I think it is just a software update. I had a 2016 W213 without Android Auto and took it in to the dealers with a few issues with COMAND like drop-outs, long delays in responding etc. and the technician did a full software update (which fixed most of the issues) and hey presto, afterwards I had Apple Play and Android Auto.

Not true of the W222 however I'm informed by Alfie - that needs new hardware! (Or the facelift version)

Yes indeed W213 being an E.

Get in touch with them and see what they say.

Many SLC’s are (mine is and has) im sorry if you were let down. Who did you deal with? I can look into it for you.

Some W213’s can have factory Apple CarPlay / Android Auto some cant. If you have Audio 20 option 506 or Comand option 531 then you can have factory Apple CarPlay / Android Auto. If you have Audio 20 option 522 its not compatible.

Many SLC’s are (mine is and has) im sorry if you were let down. Who did you deal with? I can look into it for you.

Thanks, but Mercedes have confirmed it cannot be done, so I don't think there's much you could do about it now. Water under the bridge now.

I have the same problem on the car I bought recently. There is no option for Android Auto or Apple car play. Would you please have a look at the VIN number and let me know if there's anything I can do to be able to use Android Auto?
