But it was a good trip up some of the good driving roads in the west coast. My friend came through from Edinburgh to experience motoring heaven. Starting @ Helensburgh we worked our way along the A82, up over the rest and bethankful pass (A83) to Inverrary.

From there we headed over to Dalmally (A819) then joining the A85 to Tyndrum, over through Glen coe on the A82 and taking a wee detour and going by Loch Leven. This is well worth doing as the twists and turns are excellent and the Focus's handling came into its own.

From here we went upto Fr William and then onto (A830) Mallaig but the weather was sh**. It must be said the improvements to this road are considerable and its nice to see ones taxes doing something useful .

We decided back at Ft William to head upto the "nevis range" and jump on the cable car and take in some views. Then it was back to Helensburgh but going by Connell (old scumbag territory).

The Focus was a 1.6TDCi Zetec and although I was a passanger it was a very nice way to spend 7hrs on the road. No back ache, refineded and frugal with good handling. Anyone in the market for a midsized family car should give this car a good look.

I have a nice drive through Clydebank in the morning-the view is only spoilt by the drones of jobseekers loitering with intent near the "job centre plus" waiting for the brew

Some tarmac for you

Ah thats a bit better apart from all that green stuff and no idea where it is, as ive said i get nose bleeds when i cant see the Red Road Flats.

You should take a drive over to Greenock and see your place from the other side of the Clyde, some great views from above Greenock though i would go through Port Glasgow as fast as you can and get back out of Greenock before sunset as you will become the Omega man ;)

Aye, I've been over there and done that very thing. The view @ Langbank is nice along the M8 looking over to the cesspit of despair that passes for Dumbarton but the rock is nice.

Soon you'll have constant nose bleeds, these buildings will get pulled down sometime soon. Soon you'll be able to take your MB out of Glasvegas and roam free (the pic is @ Morar nr Mallaig).

I know and i use them as my compass aswell.

If you just get into Greenock and head right up to the new cemetary right up the top you get amazing views on a clear day over Greenock, across to Helensbugh and up the lochs.
its just getting that clear view:(

The weather is a bit sh**e here, but the alternative of being on the east coast where they get a couple of extra dry days/yr is a fate worse than a fate worse....

This is a well know resident of Greenock called catman, he escaped from a russian vessel during the cold war and has lived in Scotts lane ever since with a colony of ferrel cats, hence he eats rats.

used to sh#t myself 20 years ago going through Scotts lane and see a pair of eyes staring at you surrounded by cats.

told many a person about catman since leaving Greenock but knowbody believed me until they did a two page spread about him in the Sunday Mail.

This guy has lived like this for 30 years quite happily in Greenock and thats why you should never stop for long in it coz he is one of the more civized residents.

Hi st4,

Nice pictures, but you dont have to go far from Glasgow to see great views. My favourite?, Park at the top of the Hayley brae, walk up to the viewpoint, then carry on to the hill behind Largs. From the top you can see the sea right round Millport. Or Tower Hill in Gourock. Or the Whangie. Or cycle over the Garshangan farm road near Bridge of Weir to Loch Thom, then on to Largs via Brisbane Glen, and not a piper in sight?

These days, being underground is more intangible, like being inaccessible, ahistorical, and undanceable. Or maybe it's more solid, like not being able to afford a pair of Dunks or a sample clearance, knowing that the midnight shift is stealing your demo time and you have ass-chance of getting signed anyway. That's because mainstream is now being a body-positive black woman in black leather and boots staring out from a safari wicker chair like you're bulletproof, exposing the slightest hint of leg, flanked by Afroed sistas straight out of a Baruch and Jones print, and knowing exactly what it means to be able to pull that **** off. Mainstream is doing all of this and still calling yourself a bitch, maybe less defensively than you used to, because by now Missy Elliott knows how much we all luv 2 luv her.
