Where is the thermostat on my w124 e300d?

It's not getting up to temperature, even after long drives, so I assume it needs a clean.

Mine did not run up to temperature 82/84 degrees so I fitted a new thermostat and that cured the problem. regards AA

They cant be cleaned, they must be replaced

Yes, quite amazingly simple; I was expecting lots of bits to be in the way but apparently not.
