Guys,

After some quick advice please.

Not Merc related and asking for a friend.
Car has pink'ish coolant. Have added bue Anti-Freeze for winter.
Any issues with mixing?

I know I have personally done this in the past on some older cars without reasling there was any significant difference, and not noticing any real difference.

I dont always believe everything Google tells me, so after some advice.

Thanks.

The colour of the coolant is not always an indication of the type of anti-freeze. I know that it's possible to mix them & end up with a gel.

In my experience ,if you dont have origional container to see spec, make up.

warm motor, drain and fill up with clean water run, drain then refill with known amount of new stuff test, forget.

Modern engines are very specific on coolant, depending on metal, plastic, and rubber that it is in contact with and the temperatures and pressures.
Mix the wrong stuff and as others say, you will end up with gel.
Drain, fill with clean water, run engine until up to temp then drain.
Then fill with manufacturers recommended premixed coolant.

GM actually went bankrupt over this and the car company was wound up

they built gaskets that didn't agree with the coolant and all the engines went wrong..... it was officially wound up in 2009 (part to get 33 billion to help it cope with the engine replacement hell and partly like most America corporations it was run like a joke until the financial crisis bite to hard and they couldn't weather both storms)

bought as a going concern and carried on as new GM https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/General_Motors_Chapter_11_reorganization

The type of inhibitor to be used will depend on the type of car engine you are uesing it in .Some dont like this, and some dont like that .
I see nothing yet to say what engine this is needed for. Some are yellow some pink some blue .I just go for G48 .

Pink/Red is usually an "OAT" type AF. Definitely not to be mixed with Blue. Best to go like for like.

But at the end of the day it's your car so you can do whatever you like really. In which case there's no real point in asking...... :)
