Does anyone know what the button with an outline of the Merc side on, elevated at the rear with a hook, on the dashboard is?

there's a tilt switch within the alarm ..... the switch you describe turns this off .... useful on ferries too.

As per above, it’s the switch to turn off the anti-tow alarm. The other is to turn off the interior motion sensor. It is a combined switch on some Mercedes

This Switch type Merc uses n olde cars always confuses me... If the light is lit, does this mean that the action is deactivated? Like the red light on AC off means it’s off?

It was, light on, AC off, same with the alarm switches, light on, alarm sensors off.

Which I think is the better way of doing it. It annoys my sensibilities that there is a warning light on advising that something is working correctly. Warning lights should be there to advise of something that requires attention.

Doh! I changed it from on to off.... and I thought really hard about it so as not to make a mistake... I agree, I understood that better than what some have now... thanks!
