I have recently purchased an E320CDI, 2001. I love the car, bit of a change from my usual Volvos. I have one problem, and it's getting annoying. I can't get comfortable in the seat. I have spent years trying to put weight ON, but am still 12st 7lbs, but 6ft 4ins. The Volvo seats were fantastic, but I think I need to put on another 10 stone to appreciate the Merc seat. Anyone got any advice other than throw money at Recaro, or similar??

Hi from fellow driver.

I must admit when I got the car the seats felt horrific. I have the contour seats but find it best with the side supports at max and the lumbar settings at min and also squab settings at min. This has worked fine for me, also the seat seems to take up your shape. The leather took some getting used to. However I still find my Peugeot 405 seats more comfortable after almost 90k in the Merc. I don't think the seats will match the Volvo either.

Did you buy at a dealer? E320CDI can have a few problems, including potential for serious rusting. You need to check the air conditioning too, a known and expensive problem too.

Any advice on seating

Hi Olaf,
Many thanks for the comments. I bought from Mercedes Direct. Nov 2001 with 18000 on the clock, less than £20k. Seems like a good deal. Various warranties on it. Hope I do not need them.
Will investigate your advice tomorrow, as just finished another 14 hour day in the truck.
