He could put it mathematically out of reach at the next race. :)
7 is absolutely in the bag...I want to see 8.

Have just ordered my Mercedes AMG Petronas 2020 Constructors Championship T-shirt. :)

I hope so records are there to be broken and he deserves the crown a fitting retirement present no doubt

Him saying he will retire is like him whining about the tyres swiftly followed by the fastest lap i.e. a load of nonsense

If he does leave then I hope MB will take The Hulk as he was top of the list if HAM didn't sign

Make no mistake Hamilton wants an 8th title just posturing at the moment he wants Toto running the proceedings and Hamilton knows Toto won’t want to upset the Daimler hierarchy the Germans really do want to upstage the Italians they are loving this

You dont like Hamilton much do you. :D

I agree there is very little chance of him retiring until he has at least tried for 8 titles, so it is amusing to read these reports about it.

Don't think the Hulk will be chosen by Red Bull. I like his style a lot, but Perez seems more likely - or how about a left field choice - Russel?

Russell has a contract to Williams and is a Merc driver, will probably replace Bottas at MB in '21

Hulk made both RP drivers look average when he came back, he should be on the grid

Contracts are not what they were.
They're a bit like insurance policies now.
Manipulate the small print and go with the money!

Although Perez is probably the front runner for the seat, it was said somewhere that the Hulk would be more suited. Simply because Max will get everything and Hulk is less likely to kick up a fuss. I think Jos may have said it too.

Both Perez and Hulk deserve a seat. Perez is making RP look silly as Lance is driving really badly lately whilst Perez keeps racking up the points.

I have read so much lately about Albon. Everyone likes him but indicate that it's simply too late for him to save his seat now. The only thing that can keep him in F1 now is if Tsunoda doesn't get the points for his super license. If he does, does Albon go back to F2?

I got the notification of a post but didnt look at it until after the quali had been broadcast on Ch.4. ;)
Yes very well done to Lance Stroll....although being honest I wish it had been Sergio Perez.
Wet conditions always throw a spanner in the works, but a dry race tomorrow should see Hamilton easily seal his 7th championship.

I didn't see the qualifying drive today, but normally Hamilton is very quick in the wet.

He usually is yes...but for some reason the Mercedes was well off the pace today regardless of driver. o_O

The new tarmac is causing a few problems I think. Getting the cars dialled in seems to be proving difficult.
It seemed to me that Lewis wasn't in groove yet and he seemed very down on the post-race interview but it often happens that he pulls out all the stops during the race.

Pirelli have admitted that they supplied the wrong compound tyres for the new tarmac surface at the circuit, apparently the surface is way too smooth and totally different to what it was before resurfacing. Needless to say there will be some real head scratching regarding suspension settings and some new parts may have been flown in overnight (if that’s allowed) as the softest tyre compound is too hard the suspension damping will need to be softened which means raw power isn’t the advantage it was and it’s going to come down to which team can set the car up best in the timescale.

Pirelli apparently weren’t told about the resurfacing in time to change the tyres supplied they need at least 4 weeks lead time.....
