New tyres today, pair for mine and a front for my partners. Black Forest for 12 days next week and the old ones definitely wouldn’t have survived the ~2,700 miles

You missed the cable tie between.the handle bar and the front brake lever....vital if its rough to stop the forward and backward movement of the bike. Always do that on our LeMans trips...as do many others on the ferries....which is where I got the idea to be honest.

I'm back in the 2 wheeler fold after an enforced 5 months off (sold my last bike before moving from France back to UK...couch surfing for last ## months while our house purchase was sorted...now I have a garage so...)
Previously had several GSs, an Africa Twin for 8 yrs and latterly an NT1100..which I didn't gel with. I've eventually settled on a 2012 1200 RT. Not what I expected to buy but it was the right price, lovely low mileage and rides well....and much of my riding is two up. Makes sense to me.

I prefer to just stick the bike in first gear, that way you don't need to muck around trying to remove the cable tie and it usually stays put, with no issues.

I’ve done that in the past, not recently as the gearbox does a pretty decent job of holding it. Took our own ratchet straps as they don’t strap the bikes down for you and most of the steps they provide are just the clutch type.

Very nice indeed
