I'm thinking of moving away from R230 SL350 in the spring after four years of relatively trouble free motoring, recent dodgy headlight aside, and I'm considering a W204 C350 diesel coupe, I never thought I'd see the day where I would consider buying an oil burner but there you go, never say never.

Are there owners of this model on here and if so what are your real world experiences with the car regarding any known faults and things in particular to look out for please?

I could be wrong, Graham, but don't think you can get a w204 350 cdi in the coupe, but you can get c207 350 cdi coupe. But the 350 cdi is a gem in whatever it's in. :)

Be aware of the issues with the OM642 engine and check for the common ones.

Common ones are:
1. Oil cooler oil leak (£5 part, 9 hours labour)
2. Batwing oil leak (change on every service).
3. Turbo actuator failure
4. PCV valve failure c 100k miles
5 EGR valve sticking.
6. Split intercooler hoses.

The engine is smooth for an oil burner though a little gruff when worked, especially compared to a petrol.
Cold starts have a little bit of clatter but not too bad.

I don't have a C Class coupe - my 350 is a R Class and for such a big lump it gets along well. The C should be very quick.

Thanks for that, I was looking at 2011 car for sale and I wrongly thought it would be a W204, it was this one, the mileage is stratospheric but I'm only looking at the moment but something very similar to this with lower mileage would be what I would be looking for?

Damn, I clearly need to do more research, I thought the 350's were only oil burners, now I'm in a dilemma, diesel or petrol, diesel or petrol? at least it gives me options. :D
