Dear all,

A few questions re the W123 -

How difficult is it to retro fit cruise control to a W123?
I would like remove it from a 280E - how difficult is this?

Many thanks,

Hello,

Yes, both these cars are W123 diesel cars. Same model, same year, etc.

Thanks,

If you're reasonably handy, the CC is quite straightforward. The big question is are you sure that the unit you want to transplant working properly? The amplifier module almost always fails with age - I speak from experience! The parts you need to transfer are:

Actuator: mounted on the wheel arch in the engine bay. A cable runs round and attaches to the accelerator linkage. Early ones are vacuum powered, later ones are electric.
Amplifier: mounted under the dash on a bracket above the brake pedal.
Brake pedal switch: fits between brake light wiring & pins.
Speed sensor: mounted on the back of the speedo.
Control stalk: mounts next to the indicator.

Plus all the associated wiring...

You might be better off asking this question at USA site benzworld.org, as a lot more W123s over there have CC fitted.
