The Audio 10 that was standard in my W210 conked out and I have bought a Becker Merecedes badged APS 30 off e-bay. I've connected up a sat nav receiver aerial and loaded the Nav CD. All seems to work except it does not know when the car is moving. Does it need some connection to the gear box? Does anyone know how to get in to a set up menu on this model?

Thanks

Thanks - there appears to be lots of info on this. I've already found out how to get in to the set up menu. I'll try and locate the speed sensor wires this weekend.

My E320 does not have sat nav - just interested how much you paid for the APS 30 on eBay.
Most sat nav equipment seems to be "portable" which means that it is asking to be stolen from the car with all the costs of the damage to the car , hence I am interested in a solution which is built in, and relatively unattractive to car thieves

They are portable true, so that means you can take them out and pop them in the boot or centre console. I just pull my PDA off the magnetic mount and pop it in my pocket when I leave the car. That's on the 1 out of 250 journeys I actually use it.

e-bay price

Hi Dogsbody

I paid £150 including P&P which was quite a bargain. They can go for anything up to £400. The cost of a replacement Audio 10 was similar so if I get the sat nav up and running it will have been almost for free.

In the engine compartment, left hand side, near the windscreen, there is a black box (with airconditioning sticker on it). Remove the cover. At the ESP- Module (or ASR-Module), there are 2 big connectors and 1 small one. The left one carries the signal at pin 1. green/white The signal can be found too, in the passenger's footwell (left hand drive vehicle): green/white cable (in harness with green double-cable) behind toeboard. OR: 2 lone green/black cables, soldered together at their ends, behind vertical cover of passenger's footwell, right hand side.

I don't know for sure.
The best way is to lift the carpet and have a look.
The colour of the wires should be the same.
