Are SRS Parts Plug and Play? Eg, main control unit. Or do they need to be coded in? As the latest code is that the Control unit N2/7 (Restraints System control unit) Defective.

Usually VIN code needed. And they also fails quite rarely... any other symptoms? Can you connect SRS module by deagnostics?

A local indy has had the car for a few weeks trying to sort out the air bag light. They got in a auto electrician and still they could not find or solve the problem and I cannot get it MoTed and I am loathed to spend any more money on it. I have an ICar soft MB scanner and this is what it is coming up with. I will end up just scrapping it I suppose. I have a newer one now.
Started with:- The resistance value in the ignition circuit containing component R12/17 (Right Front Window Airbag Ignition Squib) is too low. They changed the airbag made no difference. They checked all the centre console wiring, but couldn't find the problem.
I have tried all the plugs under seats etc on you tube, just run out of things, so I thought that I would try a new module as it says that it has failed. Lovely car which I would still be driving if I could get it MoTed. Just had new bottom breather pipe and valve fitted. Tried 2 new fully charged batteries, checked output, but it made ne difference, so I am running out of ideas and not going to take it to a garage again as the car a 2005 Eclass estate is not worth the expense.

Couldn’t condone it… you can if you can get to the wiring out an ignition timer into the Airbag warning light…

Thank you for the reply, but not quite sure what that means.

You rewire the warning light to a timer so it comes on and goes off to pass an MOT…

And then you cloak warning light and you never get indication something else is malfunctioning. Surely coders can switch your SRS box, shouldn't be very expensive to get one from scrapyard and marrying it to car. You might start to get it plugged in SDS and someone knowing person to use it.

That was my original question. Do you need to code it to the car?
