Ariel Reception

Hi, my radio reception is terrible. The ariel only extends about 100mm. MW gets a lot of interference and FM doesnt work until i'm near Birmingham. (probably due to mast being near).
What/where can I check things?

You need a new rod section that can be purchased on its own

As Malcolm, Very easy to change as well, Undo the 13 nut where the mast goes into the car. Turn radio on and pull mast completely out. Then Insert new one and turn radio off, the new mast will be taken in. retighten nut all, should be good

New mast MB is approx. £30 one from Euro car parts is about £18 (if they still supply them).

When you change the mast to note which way the teeth are facing as you,ll need to know when feeding the new mast in.

I would turn the radio on and pull it out to full by hand. Then spray some WD40 on it to free it. most likely it is just stuck with dirt
