So here's the thing. I've already replaced both front seat bases on my W204 estate because of ripping along the seem and yes, you've guessed it, the replacement seat have ripped in exactly the same place! I hate ripped seats but i'm loathed to simply replace the seat bottoms with other that will rip again - its costing me a fortune! Is there an alternative C class seat I can fit instead of the artico crap? Would welcome any thoughts.

So here's the thing, having already replaced the front seat bases on my W204, the new (second hand) one have ripped in exactly the same place - this is now getting expensive and I hate torn seats, so what do I do? Can anyone suggest alternative W204 (or other models) seats to replace the artico rubbish?

Thoughts, comment and guidance welcome.

Find a breaker with a full leather set for same model and transfer - just check they have the same options (electric adjustment or heaters etc)

You could change the way you enter and exit the car as that can make a huge difference to the longevity of seats. If you have lots of rivets on your trousers and keys hanging off your belt they will destroy seats. If you slide past the bolster with your backside and kneel or stand on the seat you can also damage them prematurely. If you’re “extra-medium” in stature then that can also increase the wear and strain on the stitching leading to tears.

In my Vdoz I used to reverse arse in then spin straight trying to avoid pushing over the bolster. Again not a great design given cost of some of these cars. And near all suffer from very early bolster wear. That area needs re design and really tough material. My SL was 2nd owner and 36k miles when I bought it and was already suffering a bit in the bolster joint.

Very nice to. My Vdoz was leather as well but the bolster stitching was starting to fray a bit. Maybe yrs were Monday seats n mine Friday!!! Either way 36 k miles is a poor show the design on yrs seems a little different to mine. The stitching was at edge.? Maybe first owner of mine was not very careful. Tho rest of car was completely unmarked.
