I see there already numerous threads on here relating to this ASR problem......
1998 - CLK320 Auto
The dash lights and warning came on everytime I released the handbrake after starting it, since buying the car about 6 weeks ago.
I've since had it into Merc Dealership who charged me 55 quid to reset it and tell me that if it happens again (which it did about 2 hours later) I'd need to bring it back for further diagnostics checks. They said probably the YAW sensor or Module (Very pricey !!).
The general feeling I get from the ASR posts on here is that Merc don't have a clue and checking/changing the brake pedal switch is probably my best option. Anyone know the part number for this model ?
Any comments would be welcome guys........
PS - unrelated ignition problem (I think)
About 1 in 5 starts, it sounds like the starter motor jams and the car doesn't start (this has happened as much as 3/4 times on the trot, then hey presto (BROOM!!!).
I asked the Merc Tech when it was in for ASR checks and he thinks the ring gear just needs a lubricating spray applied (quite common fault he said).
Any thoughts ??? and directions to the ring gear would be much appreciated and any info on the best spray to use would be a great help also (pretty obvious I ain't very mechanical eh !!
