56 reg C 180 SE Kompressor Petrol engine and is 13 months old. Only 6000miles from New.
A fortnight ago showed 10,000 miles to next service. Now shows "A" Service due in 28 days.
Is this normal? if not any Suggestions. Polite ones only please. [podmore@grev.karoo.co.uk]

Yes its normal - the only suggestion I can make is to book it in.
It will run on mileage for as long as it can but at some point you exceed the time limit rather than the mileage limit - hence the switchover.

Many Thanks.
Do you know what the time limit is for a September 2006 C180 -
I thought that it was 2 years.

I thought MB had moved to fixed intervals (their UK MD announced early last year that they had) specifically because fleets didn't like the uncertaintly over servicing? It was suppossed to be 15,500 miles or 12 months.

The ASSYST timing does seem to vary - I think the theory is the absolute maximum it can go is 2 yrs (and it's also worth bearing in mind that a condition of the Mobilo coverage is that the car has been serviced by an MB dealer within the last 2 yrs). However at the 2 year point the car will need a B service, plus a brake fluid change.

What causes the interval to be reduced seems to be a mystery. People guess that it depends on the type of driving, number of cold starts, use of kickdown, condition of oil, average fuel consumption etc etc, but I don't think anyone *really* knows.

Depending on where you live, don't pay the full price (around £260) for an A service. Inchcape owned dealers are advertising it for £189 on C180.
