My wife is currently on her way home in said vehicle. She informs me that simultaneously the cab tilt light came on and the ABS light. I'm thinking it's a wiring issue as both bits of kit are in no way mechanically related. Any good places to start looking, looms that are famous for rubbing on the chassis etc.

Thanks in advance.

Dash is know for issues in these. I used to drive one for a shopfitting company. We had 2 in the yard and one had to have a replacement dash as it was like a christmas tree and no faults in ECU. best get codes read first to rule out actual faults. If it is a dash issue more things will play up.

Pulled this from an old post on the forum

"It's common for the wiring loom to corrode where it runs along the underside of the engine".

from memory and it was 10 years:confused: and if models havent changed lock handle in cab behind seat to be released then one at passenger side of cab beside pump, open valve and pump, might have to open doors to put weight on front of cab as they can be a complete ballocks to raise. If stuck get somebody else to push the cab up at same time. We had 2 Man 7.5 tonners in the yard as well so forgive me if i got cab tilt procedure mixed up with mans

So I sorted the cab tilt procedure. Two levers, but the first cable required a knack, give the cab a wobble as you pull it. Don't however pull it so hard you snap the lever. Once that has released, pull the lever at the step and the cab will pop up and the wheel arch will hit you on the chin.

The cab tilt light was resolved by removing a piece of wire someone had used to keep the lamp in place. This wire had uncoiled, and was touching the ABS lamp.

So I may well have an ABS issue, not a faulty dash. I'm not up to speed on this machine, all my other ABS equipped vehicles show an amber ABS light, which goes out as you start to move. On the Merc after the ign is on there is a pause then the ABS light comes on (RED) rolling forward a few metres hasn't turned it off. I'm not sure if you need to go above a certain mph, or if it's on for good.
